Palais Jacques Coeur

Palais Jacques Coeur, a must-see during your stay in our hotel

Palais Jacques Coeur

A Romanesque figure, merchant at the helm of a vast network of stores, Jacques Cœur became "argentier" (steward of royal expenditure and banker to the court) to King Charles VII in 1438. Made a nobleman around 1441, he became the king’s right hand man. His palace is a testament to his rank and extravagant lifestyle. Thanks to its elegant architecture, richness and the variety of its décor, Palais Jacques-Cœur is considered one of the most sumptuous private dwellings of the XV century and a masterpiece of flamboyant gothic style architecture. We invite you enter the doors of this mansion during your stay to admire the impressive ceiling structure in the shape of an upturned hull, the ballroom and, of course, the very pretty chapel with its dazzling stained glass windows. Palais Jacques Cœur, a listed Historic Monument, was built in less than 10 years, confirming his famous motto “to a valiant heart, nothing is impossible”.
